Corrosion inhibitors and acid fume inhibitors

Corrosion inhibitors and acid fume inhibitors belong to the same family of products. Corrosion inhibitors are used to avoid over pickling of the steel. Fume inhibitors are used to prevent acidic gas formation. But they have the same functions. Introduction to the two products is as follows:

Corrosion inhibitor
1) Product Range: Normal-temperature corrosion inhibitor GD-H131;High-temperature corrosion inhibitors GD-H141 and GD-H142。
2) Application temperature: Normal-temperature corrosion inhibitor GD-H131 should be applied ≤35℃ to preclude decomposition and loss of inhibition. Inhibiting rates between 95% can be achieved.
High-temperature corrosion inhibitor GD-H141 and GD-H142 can be applied in the temperature range 65-90℃. The Inhibiting rate of GD-H141 is over 80% and the inhibiting rate of GD-H142 is 90%.
3) Characteristics: These products are low cost, require low levels of addition and are effective in reducing corrosion and acid fumes. The products are safe and simple to use and cause little irritation or odour. Under normal conditions the metal corrosion rate is not greater than 1 mm/year. The product is effective in restricting the corrosion of steel during the pickling process to preclude over pickling and pinhole effects.
4) Mode of use: These products are compatible with a wide range of acids. They are especially suited for HCl and H2SO4 pickling. Generally 2-5 Kg of inhibitor per ton of pickling solution is required.
When adding new acid, it is necessary to add inhibitor. . Add inhibitor at 5% of the weight of new acid added.
5) Safety precautions: These materials are mildly corrosive to skin. Protective clothing should be worn when handling. Skin and eye contamination should be treated by immediate rinsing with clean water.
6) Product data:
  • Appearance: Low temperature type -Colorless liquid. High temperature type -light green liquid
  • BTA content: Low temperature type≥30%;High temperature type≥45%
  • Package: 25L or 50L plastic pails.
  • Shelf life: One year if stored in a dark, cool room:
7) Effect of inhibitor:
These inhibitors reduce the mass of iron dissolved during pickling while allowing full removal of oxidation products from the surface of the work. Acid use is reduced and acid fumes are controlled. Tests indicate that pickling 2000 tonnes of 2 mm coiled strip results in a product weight increase of 1140 Kg and a saving of 5 Tennessee of 30% HL.
