Mode of operation
The work is first fluxed using our patented “flash” pre-flux system. This system coats the work with a zinc rich film which greatly reduces the migration of iron into the alloy at dipping to in effect eliminate dross. It also allows Galfan coating without the need for a double dip process.
The ceramic kettle is suited for temperatures from 450c to 600c.
Small parts are galvanized either in baskets or by hanging them on a chain which moves them through the kettle and vibrates them on exiting the molten alloy.
The kettle has a life of 10 to 20 years and is particularly suited to galvanizing at temperatures where steel kettle are quickly corroded by molten zinc
Heater types
Alloy electric heaters
These are tubular in design and are suspended either along one or both sides of the kettle. They are manufactured using a highly corrosion resistant alloy sheath. When operated to our guidelines and under continuous use conditions these elements have a working life of 2 to 8 years. The heating element is protected from excess temperature and oxidation to reduce the incidence of premature failure. The heater control makes it practical to maintain the kettle at ±3°C of the desired temperature.
Electricity consumption ranges from 120 Kwhrs/t to 130 Kwhrs/tonne.
Ceramic gas heaters
These have tubular, highly corrosion resistant, pressure molded sheaths and are suspended along one or both sides of the kettle. The gas heater automatic system is PLC controlled to maintain the kettle at ±3 °C of the desired temperature using variable flame technology. When operated to our guidelines these sheaths have a working life of approximately 6 months to two years. The burner units have a life of approximately 7 years. Recuperators are fitted to achieve energy efficiency
Gas consumption ranges from 15 M3/tonne to 30m3/tonne. Gas types: LPG or CNG or Coal gas
Ceramic oil heaters
These have tubular, highly corrosion resistant, pressure molded sheaths and are suspended along one or both sides of the kettle. The gas heater automatic system is PLC controlled to maintain the kettle at ±3 °C of the desired temperature using variable flame technology. When operated to our guidelines these sheaths have a working life of approximately 6 months to 2 years. The burner units have a life of approximately 7 years, Recuperators are fitted to achieve energy efficiency
Oil consumption ranges from 20 L/tonne to 40 L/tonne. Oil types: Diesel or furnace oil
Quartz glass electric heaters
These tubular glass heaters are suspended along one or both walls. Control is automatic to maintain the kettle at ±3 °C of the desired temperature. Working life of the external tube is 6 months to one year. The working life of the electric heater element is about 6 months.
Electricity consumption ranges from 120 Kwhrs/t to 130 Kwhrs/tonne
